Environment:

  • Windows XP
  • IE 6

Complete error message in Internet Explorer:

The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
Access is denied.

Technical Notes

The XML file had a style sheet. The URL for the style sheet was completely valid and the style sheet displayed when requested individually.

Solution

In Internet Explorer, go into the menu: Tools > Options, Security , go into Trusted Sites and add the domain containing the XML file. Oddly enough, it does NOT seem necessary to add the domain containing the XSL file even though the error message mentions the XSL file specifically.

What about Firefox?

In testing Firefox 3, we found that it does not display the XML file AT ALL. Issue reported to Firefox support. A tip from www.href.com .
